Steer for change mother & newborn was born as a result of a personal experience of the
founder, Kikelomo Adisa, who almost lost her son just few days after birth. Despite the
trauma and pain of that experience, Kikelomo looked beyond her own pain and close call to losing her son to see the plight of other mothers who were not as privileged as her.
The difference between her not losing her son and thousands of women across Nigeria who suffer losses was due to having access to adequate care, knowledge, and having the resources and means to purchase the necessary medical kits and services. This was the birth of Steer for Change Mother & Children on April 2019.
To date, the team at Steer for change mother & newborn have impacted over 1,000
pregnant women and nursing mothers/babies through the various services. Steer for
change mother & newborn is committed to safeguarding the lives of mothers, infants, and children in underserved communities across Nigeria.
MISSION
Our mission is to promote the good health and well-being of pregnant women, nursing women and children living in underserved communities through medical outreaches, nutrition intervention, women empowerment and hospital bill payment projects.
VISION
To eradicate Maternal and infant mortality in underserved communities in Nigeria.
- More than ever, the need to provide access to care and essential resources to keep
mother and babies alive is critical, no more should a mother or child die due to lack of
access to the necessary basic resources to save their lives. - Creating an ecosystem of affordable care to women in underserved communities across
Nigeria is a necessity due to the projected increase in the total population of Nigeria. - Providing timely and relevant education and training to women and community
stakeholders is key to reducing and eventually eradication maternal and infant loss in
Nigeria.
