YEARS OF SUSTAINED WORK IN LAGOS AND OYO STATE
0

Kikelomo Adisa founded Steer for Change after a near-loss of her own newborn opened her eyes to the gap in maternal care available to women without access or resources. Today, a focused team runs four programmes across Lagos and Oyo — providing direct intervention, education, and economic empowerment for the women most at risk.

We believe that no woman should lose her life while giving life, and no child should suffer due to lack of access to basic care.

One story · then the number

Susan’s baby couldn’t breathe.
The team paid for everything.

Asamoah Susan and her son, Asamoah Emmanuel — referred from a community outreach to Mother and Child Hospital, Nigeria.

“They came to my area for their outreach. I was told my baby was having breathing problems and should come to the hospital. They did tests for the baby, we saw the doctor, and he wrote some prescriptions. Both the tests and the prescriptions. They paid for everything.

Story-then-number is the rule we work to. Susan and Emmanuel are the story. The number — 6,000+ mothers and babies supported across Lagos and Oyo — only matters because of them, and because of every named family behind it.

Our programmes

Four pillars. One sustained outcome.

01

Medical
outreach

Healthcare, birth kits, and prenatal education delivered directly to communities where access is limited or care is unaffordable.

02

Hospital bill
payment

Direct payments to facilities so no mother or child is turned away. In 2024 alone, we covered bills for 12 women and 4 children.

03

Nutrition
intervention

Structured recovery for malnourished children, supplementary feeding, maternal nutrition support, and our Kayplan cereal.

04

Women
empowerment

Skills training, small business grants, and mentorship that build long-term economic independence for vulnerable mothers.

I came to be one of the donors of Steer for Change. Today we distributed to 60 pregnant women and over 40 nursing mothers — rice, mosquito nets, and other hospital essentials. I am happy I am part of it.
